BE INVOLVED, BE CONNECTED
The meaning of Remembrance Day, and why we celebrate it was discussed with students. The following poems were written by students on their reflections of this national day of significance.
One day we opened our eyes to see sunlight,
The other day we closed our eyes to feel the sunset,
When we opened our eyes, we saw men wearing green and holding guns facing us;
when we close our eyes, we feel pain, a word only goes out - Sorry...

May the bodies rest in Flanders Fields through dusk and dawn,
and for them to remind others that the wounds of war can never be healed.
Henry
White crosses are adorned with poppies,
People stand in silence remembering the wars that have been fought,
In there heads, bullets fire, people die, but away from the ground birds fly.
Coco
Years ago,
The bird hehold,
a battle clawing with pain,
the guns explode,
the living lose hope,
enclosed in pain to die.
"Days ago, I used to know the feel of sunshine on my face,
and I'm dead, sadly, no!
and under the poppies I lie".
Clara
In Flanders Fields,
the bullets fly,
hearts skip a beat,
and soldiers cry,
as they lose another loved one.
