Announcing our 2020 College Captains

The sun shone down brightly as we celebrated the announcement of our 2020 College Captains.

The Piazza is fast becoming the centre of our community, a place where the fit is natural and the feel is one of belonging.  As such it was the perfect venue to announce the 2020 College Captains. Whilst there was some degree of disappointment felt by those who had not received a captaincy, the spirit of all candidates forged together and presented to the campus community a united group of strong and capable leaders who place the needs of others before themselves. We are so very proud of all of the candidates who placed themselves humbly before their teachers and peers ready to serve. Thank you to all candidates and congratulations to our new 2020 College Captains.

The next stage of student leadership selection is the House Captains for 2020. Years ten and eleven students (2019) are now completing the process of nominating themselves as House Captain 2020. Following the nomination process, each candidate will deliver their speech to their House during the pastoral period next week. House members will then vote, using the innovative online voting process employed for the College Captain positions. Following the voting will be interviews and the announcement of the successful House Captains will be done during a short House Assembly on Thursday, 19 September 2019. House Captains play a critical role in the development of House Spirit as well as leading the competition for the Rosemary Graham Shield. I wish all candidates every success and look forward to hearing their speeches.

Thursday, 12 September 2019 we will celebrate R U OK? Day. The power of asking such a simple question cannot be underestimated. A conversation can be the catalyst to change a life or maybe just generate a smile. Either way when we take time to talk and engage with each other we are actively and critically supporting the well-being of each other. This year, like last year we will recognise the importance of checking in with one another with a colour run. To participate, students must wear a white T-Shirt over their sports uniform. All students will be asked to wear their sports uniform on this day even if they choose not to do the colour run. The SRC and VCAL are planning a week of activities to support and check in with each other, to ask R U OK? Last year the colour run was a huge success and we plan and hope for even greater participation this year. So get the white T-Shirt and get running through the maze of colour next week.

Grade 5 (Year 7 2021) Orientation Day 13 September 2019

It seems impossible to think that we are already looking forward to welcoming our 2020 Year 7's. Over the past few months members of the leadership team have been interviewing grade 5 students and their parents who have made application to attend St. Peter's College Clyde North Campus in 2021. It is a great opportunity to build connections with prospective families sooner than later.  Later in the year we will be welcoming our Grade 6 students for their formal orientation day in readiness for their entry into year 7 in 2020. I look forward to welcoming the grade 5 students next week and hope that they have an exciting and fun day. My thanks to Mr Peter Brannan for his work in coordinating the many feeder schools that we have. House Leaders and students are very much looking forward to seeing the grade 5 students next week.
