A Message from the

Head of Prep School

A warm welcome back to our final term for 2018

It is only a short time but the students, staff and yourselves will be involved in a great number of events showcasing and celebrating the students’ achievements throughout the year.On Friday November 2 Grandparents Day will be held with the children performing a number of items and then “showing off” their classroom. This is always a day the students look forward to and a special day to appreciate the help grandparents or special family friends give.

The following day is our Prep School Open Day. Every classroom is open and a number of activities, performances and challenges are there for you to watch, listen or be involved.

Open Day is a compulsory event for our students. Food and drinks will be available for purchase courtesy of our hard working Parents and Friends Association and of course coffee and cake will be available.

Our Year 6 students will be attending the School Council dinner on Wednesday October 31 where they have the opportunity to meet and chat to the members of our Council.

The Year 6 Farewell this year is on Monday evening November 19 and this will be attended by our Year 5 and 6 students.

Along with our Sports Assembly with special guest Jason Belmonte (ex-student and World Champion Ten-Pin bowler), Performing Arts assembly as well as the end of year achievement assemblies makes for a busy and productive term.

I look forward to catching up with you over the term.

Last term our Year 5 students wrote letters to farming communities across our region offering support during the present drought. Some wrote to families they knew while others wrote to the Cabonne, Lachlan and Condobolin Councils for distribution.

Cabonne and Lachlan councils have sent lovely letters of thanks back to our students. Forbes council is putting many of the letters on their Facebook page so the community can read and know others are thinking of them.

Well done to our Year 5 students.

Mrs Coote has taken maternity leave and Mrs Caro, who is well-known to all the students, will be teaching Year 1. With Mrs Caro taking on these duties Mrs Katie O’Dea will step into the Prep Librarian position for Term 4.

We also have Mr Bryce Ostini on a teaching practicum with Mrs Charlton’s year 6 class for 5 weeks.  We look forward to their enthusiasm and expertise over the term.

Enjoy your week.

Mr Rob McLean
