Year Prep - Year 2

Assistant Principal's Report

Junior School News

Hello and welcome back to Term Three! Where has the year gone?! I hope that everyone has enjoyed a relaxing and well-earned break over the holidays and come back feeling refreshed and ready for what promises to be another exciting term of learning here at Pakenham Springs.  I have really enjoyed getting out into classrooms, talking to students about their holiday breaks as well as their learning.  There is a real air of excitement around the school for what promises to be another exciting semester.

Our Prep team have come back and really hit the ground running, learning about new concepts such as addition, with plans in full swing for what promises to be a very exciting week next week.  Next week will see our Preps celebrate their first 100 days of school on Tuesday, with teachers excitedly planning a celebration to mark this very special event!  The following day will see Preps depart for their Cranbourne Gardens excursion where they will learn about plants and the importance of the environment and surrounds for Koori people in the area.

The Year One students will also be looking at developing their understanding of addition and subtraction throughout Term Three, whilst our unit of writing about information reports is now in full swing too.  Students have been busy researching and planning their information reports, discussing the difference between a fact and an opinion, to ensure that they are including plenty of factual and interesting information in their information reports.

Likewise, in Year Two, students have been planning and researching their information reports, discussing the structure and format of information reports, in line with 'Springy's guide to information report writing'.  The Year Two team have also welcomed Mrs Stacey Ploeg back to Pakenham Springs who has transitioned seamlessly into the team, and into J43 as well.  We are very fortunate to have Mrs Ploeg return full-time from maternity leave, whilst Mrs Brown has also successfully transitioned into the Junior School Visual Art role.  Plans are also in full swing for the Year Two sleepover on September 6, with students becoming particularly excited.

I look forward to keeping you updated with the various exciting events and announcements to come throughout Semester Two.  Until next time, please take care and keep warm!

Regards
