Learning in S33

Senior School S33 Harris is sharing the learning taking place in their class…

Last term, S33 focused on setting up our Readers Workshop routine.  As a class, we have committed to work on our reading this year.   To achieve this we have established our Literature Circles.

Literature Circles

In Literature Circles, small groups of students gather together to discuss a piece of literature in depth. The discussion is guided by students' response to what they have read. Students get to choose a variety of rules such as Discussion Director, Literacy Luminary, Connector, Travel Tracer, Illustrator and Summariser.  You may hear talk about events and characters in the book, the author's craft, or personal experiences related to the story.

Library Time

In the library, the three R values are on display as each student has the opportunity to read to their peers, showcasing their reading fluency and comprehension.

We Support Each Other

Teamwork is most effective whenever everyone involved works together towards a common goal.  It is important to support each other in a team so that the team will be successful whenever it comes to reaching its goals.  In this regard, Year 6 students are learning to support one another as they collaborate and communicate freely together.

We All Come together

As part of Reconciliation Week, S33 is working on celebrating the diversity of cultures we have at Pakenham Springs.  Students are making puzzle pieces that display their background and culture.  These pieces will come together to form our class, giving pride to the students and where they have come from as well as celebrating the diversity of S33.
