AFL Carnival

On Thursday the 23rd of May, many of the Grade 5 and 6 boys attended the AFL carnival in Midvale.

The boys competed against 3 teams in 30 minute games and then competed in a final.

The first game was against Kalamunda. In this game the boys competed very well and came out with a hard fought 5 point win.

The second game was against Carey and it was a seesawing affair with both teams being in front at different points of the match. It came down to a last minute goal for Carey to pip us by a few points at the very end. While they didn’t win this one, our boys came out of the game with their heads held high because of how they played.

The third game was against the eventual competition winners Swan. Unfortunately, they were just too powerful for us and we had a fairly heavy loss. While they lost, our team kept competing and came back at the end for a few goals to make the score look a bit more reasonable.

In our final game, we ended up playing against Kalamunda in a 3v4 final. Our first half looked a little shaky, however in the end we were too powerful and came home with a good win.

I was proud of how the boys kept competing and showed the strong Emmanuel character throughout the whole day. by Mr Graeme Leathard
