Clyde North Campus News

Welcome Back

When the first blossoms of jasmine start to appear and the clock moves forward an hour, we know that the warmer weather and longer days are coming. Term 4 has begun and as we settle back into our routine, our thoughts are certainly with the year 12 students as they begin their final journey towards completing the last year of secondary education.

A new term is always a great way to revisit Semester two’s goals and targets as a way of refocussing our energy and efforts into fully realising these goals through out Term 4.

The term will be busy, the first year 9 camp is already underway and I am sure there will be many wonderful memories made from this adventure. Year 12's conclude within the next two weeks, with a Graduation Assembly, Mass at St Agatha’s Church and the Valedictory Dinner all on Tuesday, 22 October 2019.  Classrooms continue be the focus of our core business and great sources of inspiration and development. All students are reminded to stay focused on the work ahead and seek support and guidance from your teachers and parents to ensure that term four is the most productive term yet.

YEAR 9 XSPAN:D   Life skills?

Whilst half of the year 9 students are having fun in sun and surf on camp, developing critical skills in communication, team building, problem solving and decision making, the rest of the group are having a very different but equally valuable experience. Life skills, who really teaches us these things, is it only school or is it our parents or is it both? How would you fare in the following?

  • First aid and CPR
  • Financial planning and management
  • Dinner conversations

Part of this week’s homework is to have dinner conversations around bills, and just how do parents manage the family expenses. The knowledge and skills associated with financial literacy are critical to all of us and the sooner our students develop this literacy the more likely they will make informed choices and decisions around education, expenditure and budgeting and their future careers.

This is a great initiative from the year 9 team.

Rosemary Graham Shield Final Ladder 2019

Congratulations Augustine and all students, staff and House Leaders for a wonderful competition this year. I have been particularly impressed by the humility shown by the Augustine students in their victory.  We will kick off the 2020 competition in the final weeks of this term with the annual Tug-of-War challenge.

Year 12

As the final weeks begin it is imperative that your son/daughter is in attendance at school every day to ensure he/she;

  • Has the opportunity to complete all work and assessment requirements.
  • Can obtain and engage with critical feedback and revision as provided by teachers.
  • Can continue to enjoy positive and supportive friendships within the College community.

It is also critical that students maintain healthy lifestyle choices such as

  • Getting enough good sleep
  • Balancing work-life commitments.
  • Spending quality time relaxing and being with family
  • Healthy eating and getting some good exercise

All of this will ensure that your mind and body are fit or ‘match ready’ for exams, VCAL projects and assessments.

Year 12 Last Day Tuesday, 22 October 2019

All parents should have received a caremonkey notification detailing the times for the Graduation Assembly, Mass and Valedictory Dinner. Please ensure you complete the notification to indicate if you are attending the Graduation Assembly at the College (commencing at 11.30 am) so we can reserve you a seat.  Looking forward to celebrating your child’s wonderful journey at St Peters, Clyde North Campus.

I wish you all a safe and productive week.
