Welcome and Congratulations!
This year we have introduced Performing Arts for our P-2 and Year 7-9 students and been fortunate to employ Bec Wik to lead this program.
Below you will find a brief 'Introduction' that Bec has written as well as some pics from her recent graduation. Bec graduated from Deakin University on the 19th of February earning herself a Bachelor of Education (Primary) with a distinction.
We are pleased to have Bec as part of the ACS team and the students are loving Performing Arts with her. Bec is also featuring in the upcoming production of Cinderella at GPAC in March. I am sure she'd love to have some young fans in the audience!
Hi everyone, my name is Bec Wik
I am super excited to be the Performing Arts teacher at Armstrong Creek School in 2019. I have just graduated from Deakin University with a Bachelor of Primary Education. I have spent the last few years working at Edge clothing and baby sitting for a few family’s. As well as my hobbies of musical theatre and dance.
I’m actively engaged in performing arts around Geelong. Last year I had the most amazing experience as the lead role of Peggy Sewyer in Geelong’s CenterStages 42nd street. I’m currently involved in the ensemble of Cinderella which will be performed in March. I love the performing arts and it is one of my greatest passions. I have been involved in dancing, singing and musical theatre since a young age.
I’m so excited to take on the role of Performing Arts teacher and pass on my knowledge and experience to the students of Armstrong Creek school.
I look forward to meeting you all.
Thanks Bec.
Music Bus
The recent visit of the music bus was a big hit and we have over 50 expressions of interests from families.
Matt will be coordinating a timetable from these and will be in touch with the school and families to confirm in the coming weeks.
BYOD iPads
REMINDER BYOD - Years 3-9 only
As a requirement of the BYOD Program, all families are to complete the Acceptable Use Agreement electronically via the link below: Please submit one form per child.
https://goo.gl/forms/rXIOrzJYUzUlDhdr1
The Acceptable Use Agreement must be completed before iPads can be connected to the school systems.
Please ensure students take devices home each day and they are not left at school over week ends as these devices are not covered by insurance if stolen.
School Council
Until now we have had an Interim School Council in place and I would like to thank Janelle, Amie, Robyn and Kylie for the tremendous support and commitment during this time.
Shortly I will be sharing information regarding a call for nominations and I encourage all parents and guardians to carefully consider how they can best contribute to and support the continued growth and development of Armstrong Creek School and in doing so to consider the possibility of nominating for the Armstrong Creek School Council. The School Council is a legally formed body with the opportunity to set key directions of Armstrong Creek School within centrally provided guidelines and frameworks. In doing this, School Council is able to influence the quality of education the school provides to its students.
Have a happy and safe week end everyone.
