Year 10 & 11 Focus Day

Focus Day

Recently our Year 10 and 11 students engaged in a focus day run at the College. Across the day our students attended three sessions focusing on exam preparation, time management and stress management.

During the morning session our students learnt all about how to manage their time in the lead-up to examinations and how to manage the combination of study and homework. Our teachers provided them with a range of different homework/study timetables and taught them how to use these to manage part time work, sport, family time, time spent with friends and their school work. They also learnt about how to sit an exam, where they discussed how to approach the exam during reading time and writing time, as well as how to maximise their time in the last fifteen minutes.

During the middle session our students learnt about a range of different study techniques that they could use to help them revise for their end of semester exam. They were then given the opportunity to start using some of these techniques using their semester one coursework.

During our final session the students engaged with our College Wellbeing team to focus on stress management and participated in a range of interactive sessions to practise this skill. Our students completed meditation and yoga, made stress balls out of balloons and rice and participated in an active listening session focused on eye contact.

Thank you to the students who actively engaged in the day – all of our teachers have said how impressed they were with your level of involvement in the day.
