The school of choice for the Cobram Community
Every child matters,
Every staff member cares,
Every opportunity taken.
Funding received
I am delighted to share the news that our school will be receiving $3.39 million for new school buildings. While I don’t know yet which building will be replaced, the funding marks a turning -point for our school. We have been working steadily towards our goal of making Cobram Secondary College the school of choice for the Cobram Community. Every family deserves access to a great school, close to home and the funding allows our students access to state of the art learning facilities in their home town.
New Uniform
I’m so happy to see the positive response to our new uniform. We’ve had a great response from students, staff, and parents. Students tell me they’re feeling proud when they wear the uniform. We have sourced beanies and scarves to match the rugby jumpers and jackets. We also have a new-style of girls pants, which are a more flattering cut.
Thanks to the SRC who did the work in 2018 to select the uniform.
Year 8 Program
Our staff have been working on changes to the Year 8 programme. We are in the process of recruiting new staff and will be adding an additional class at the Year 8 level. We will run one large class at Year 8 with the intention of incorporating challenging work for this group and creating three smaller classes to enable staff to work to develop skills and knowledge enabling increased one-to-one work with students. This will commence in Term Three.
Transition
Our students showcased their leadership skills as they welcomed prospective families to the college. It was lovely to hear feedback from families about our students, how excited and happy they were at school and what wonderful role models they are. We look forward to welcoming new families to our CSC family. If you’re interested in having a look at our school, we will be running tours again the next two Friday mornings or other times by appointment. Grade 6 students from the surrounding primary schools will be attending a Taster morning on Thursday 13th June. Please contact our office for further information.
Student Teachers
We’re sadly saying goodbye to two wonderful student-teachers who’ve been with us for the month of May, completing their last rounds before graduating from Melbourne University Graduate School of Education in June. Hayley Strickland and Stephen Brooks have become part of the Cobram Secondary family – they’ve watched the local footy and netball games, attended excursions with our students and spent time getting to know our students at lunchtimes and in class. Thank you for your work at our school Hayley and Stephen. You’ll both make wonderful teachers.
