BPS 2021 Minor Capital Works Grant $321,125.

We have received some wonderful news. Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of School Council, through the Buildings and Grounds Committee, our application for a grant to improve our external facilities has been successful.

We are delighted to confirm that the Minister for Education has approved funding of $321,125.00 for ‘Oval and basketball courts upgrade’ at Beaumaris Primary School through the 2020-21 Minor Capital Works Fund.

The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) will lead and deliver our project, in consultation with our school.

The VSBA is committed to supporting schools in the delivery of their capital projects and will determine the most effective approach to procurement and delivery options. With the summer school holiday period fast approaching, the delivery assessments will occur from December 2020 through to end February 2021. Works will be undertaken during 2021.

On behalf of all students, staff and parents we extend our sincere thanks to School Council for their contribution to the application and for all their effort and dedication to ensuring our school continues to be the best it can be for our students.

Please read a report from our School Council President Bruce Baker, in the school news section.

Farewell to Mrs Ellie Hilton, Miss Daphne Fourniotis and Mrs Helen Crockett

Each year some staff look to expand their horizons and broaden their experiences in other settings. Thank you to the following staff for their outstanding contribution to the school. We extend them best wishes as they follow another turn in the road.

Mrs Ellie Hilton is making a tree change and is moving closer closer to family in Gippsland. Ellie has filled a broad range of roles over many years. Ellie's children attended BPS and her contribution throughout her association with the school has been significant. She has been a parent volunteer at the school, parent member and Vice President of School Council. She has been a dedicated and committed member of staff as our Library Technician. She has also managed our canteen and  the Uniform Shop. Ellie convened the BPS School Centenary Committee in 2014-2015 and her drive and energy ensured the success of this wonderful community event. Needless to say she has been a huge asset to the school and we will all miss her very much indeed. Best wishes Ellie, BPS will miss you.

Miss Daphne Fourniotis  is a Year 1 teacher and throughout the year she has developed strong connections with her students, parents, her teaching team and the staff at BPS. Daphne has accepted a teaching position at another school next year. Best wishes Daphne at your new school.

Mrs Helen Crockett is a Year 5 teacher and over the course of the year she has worked tirelessly with her students and has built strong relationships with their families. She has strong collegial connections with her teaching team and the staff overall. Helen has been on a temporary transfer to BPS and will return to her base school in the new year.  Best wishes from all of us Helen. We hope you have enjoyed your time at BPS and we thank you for your contribution to the school.

To  Ellie, Daphne and Helen we extend our sincerest thanks and warmest wishes. You will always be part of the BPS family.

Staffing for 2021

Mrs Jenny Fildes will return to the classroom next year after spending Term 4 this term in the role of teacher of Japanese.

Mrs Alysha Murton and Mrs Keli David will resume as a full time classroom teacher in 2021.

Teachers on leave next year

Ms Beth Wilson is expecting a new addition to her family in early February. We wish Beth good health and await news of the safe arrival of her baby.

Retirement of Ms Andrea Fisk and Mrs Anna Redlich

Miss Andrea Fisk and Mrs Anna Redlich have been on extended leave this year and have decided to retire. Both Andrea and Anna have had stunning careers as teachers. Their wealth of knowledge of learning and teaching and their contribution across every aspect of the school is quite extraordinary.  The staff, students and parents will acknowledge their contributions in the new year when restrictions across the broader community continue to favour larger community celebrations.

Families moving on, we wish you well

To all families moving on, relocating or returning overseas or interstate, we wish you every success. Our school is truly enriched by our international families, those from interstate and local schools.

Best wishes from the students, teachers and parents at Beaumaris PS.

Congratulations to Miss Hollowood

This weekend Ellen and her partner Ben will be celebrating the occasion of their marriage with family, friends and dancing! On behalf of the students, staff and BPS families we congratulate you both and wish you every happiness together.

Final assembly Friday 18th December at 9.10am

Students and staff only due to COVID restrictions

Our final assembly for the year will be held on Friday 18th December commencing at 9:10am.  Our intention is to film the final assembly and make it available on our website for families to view.

We are delighted that Department of Education and Training School Operations advised schools can now go ahead with whole school assemblies with staff and students. We will celebrate the extraordinary achievements of 2020 and farewell our Year 6 students.

Working Bee this Sunday 13th December 9-11am

Maximum 50 people (Adults and Children)

We invite families to join us on Sunday 13th December to complete a general tidy up of the grounds. We have been managing this during the restrictions, however many hands make light work.

DET School Operations indicate school activities involving visitors must comply with gathering limits for community facilities ( group limit of 50 people outdoors)

If you are available on the morning please email the school and we will keep track of numbers to ensure we do not exceed the limit.  Many thanks everyone.

Uniform Shop at BPS is closing permanently

The continuation of sales for our uniforms on site, and the viability of the operation of the uniform shop overall, were discussed at School Council this week.   Whilst we appreciate that for parents this is a very convenient service,  running the uniform shop ourselves results in a financial loss to the school when the cost of staff managing the sales/ordering system is taken into consideration.

It was therefore decided that our school uniform shop will close and parents will purchase uniforms from the Primary School Wear store in Cheltenham in person, or order online 24/7 with deliveries to home or work. PSW offer fitting rooms at their retail outlet and the store location is convenient to all our families.  Primary School Wear are the company who supply our uniforms and they have been doing this for well over 30 years. Their level of service is very high and we are confident this will remain as they now start to supply uniforms directly to our families.

PSW Store Address: 15 Mills Street, Cheltenham

Families can place their final orders for uniforms using the current system (Qkr!) until close of business Tuesday 15th December.  Orders will go home with the students on Wednesday.

Our BPS Uniform shop will officially close from Tuesday 15th December.  We will however continue to offer second hand uniform sales at school.

Gratitude and Mindfulness

What are three things that went well for you today?

What are the best things that happened to you today?

Who are you most grateful for and why?

What are you looking forward to most about tomorrow?
