Old Collegians

Class of 2020 High Achievers

It was with much pride that we welcomed back some of our newest “Old” Collegians for the High Achievers Assembly.

We had 19 past students who achieved an ATAR above 90 and were awarded Certificates of Merit at our Welcome Assembly. Our College Dux, William Devlin achieved and ATAR of 99.9 with our Dux Proximus, William Bunn achieving an ATAR of 99.65 and a perfect score in three subjects – English, Geography and Global Politics.

Our high achieving Old Collegian’s will have their pictures displayed in the Function Room throughout 2021 to acknowledge their achievement and provide a focus for current Year 12 students. We wish ALL our 2020 graduates every success for their future.

Liam Collins

Liam Collins

Liam Collins (class of 2020) has been asked to audition for ‘Top Acts’, thanks to his extraordinary performance in his Monologue Exam for Theatre Studies. He will audition in front of a select VCAA appointed panel this Saturday at 4.20pm in Coburg.

Even being asked to audition is a huge honour and puts him in very rare air indeed in terms of his standing in the state cohort (conservatively in the top 1%). If selected he will then perform at The Arts Centre in front of thousands of the paying public. We wish him luck and are very proud of his achievements.

If you’d like to see work that got him to this position, click on the link below. It is a monologue from the play ‘Faith Healer’ by Brian Friel. Liam portrays the character of Frank who, as an alcoholic “Faith Healer”, questions his relevance in a world that seems to no longer value what he has to offer on stage, as an artist or in life. Which is subsequently his undoing. Enjoy.

Sympathy

Justin Carino’s (2020) grandfather passing recently.  Justin’s brother Michael also attended St Bede’s College.

His grandfather – John Carino and his sons attended St Bede’s as well.  They are, James, John, Peter and Stephen.

May the Lord look with great compassion and tenderness on them all at this sad time.
