Bentleigh East Campus Year 7

Beginning secondary school is a very important time in a person’s life and I see my role, together with you as parents, and the rest of the St Bede’s College community, to make your sons’ transition from primary school to secondary school as smooth as possible. The boys should be commended for the way they have settled into the first few days of the school year.

As parents, I am sure you are aware of how important your presence is to your son’s education. Your continued support will be appreciated, not only by them but by our staff. As teachers, we become more effective if we can work together in partnership.

Your son’s Homeroom teacher will be extremely important during this year. If you have any concerns about how your son is settling in, they should be your first point of contact. The Homeroom teachers will be the first and last teacher that sees your son each day and will teach them for at least one subject.

As mentioned at our recent Information Night our staff are here to foster independence and maturity in these young men. Therefore, we expect all students to immerse themselves in school life via curricular and co-curricular activities.

We understand the importance of communicating with staff. I’d like to take this time to advise you on who you should be reaching out to when requiring or relaying information. For pastoral or administrative matters your primary contact is your son’s Homeroom teacher. For major pastoral matters you may contact myself or Mr Justin Shepherd (Campus Student Coordinator).

For academic and co-curricular matters your primary contact is your son’s subject teacher. They are best equipped to provide you feedback on their progress. The best mode of communication is email, as many of our staff will be teaching throughout the day.

I look forward to working with you throughout 2021 and beyond.
