In the Art Room, Term 1

Welcome to our NEW ART ROOM!

We are so excited to be making and creating in our brand new learning space! The atmosphere in the Art Room has been a-buzz this week with discussion about our new room complete with purpose built storeroom, kiln room, shiny new taps and clean bright SPACE. We even have access to our own deck, drink taps and toilet! It's been great to watch and help the kids navigate the new room and set up our learning expectations for the new environment. 

Welcome to Country

Our first artwork was a collaboration by Grade 3, 4, 5 and 6 students,

titled Acknowledgement of Country. We gathered eucalyptus leaves from the school grounds and special places such as our homes or a nearby park. After watching the Acknowledgment to Country by ABC ME, discussing the importance and message of the video and identifying the imagery and symbols used, we went about decorating individual leaves using special paint markers. The leaves represent each individual at Mullum, the richness of our collective culture of Mullum and the words of respect and acknowledgement of the people who's past, present and emerging has shaped our learning journey.
