Colgate Community Garden Challenge

Francis McGinley, Year 4 Classroom Teacher

Kilvington is excited to announce that our KGS’s Veggie Patch is officially up and running. As part of this new initiative, we’ve decided to enter into a competition to collect and recycle oral care waste and earn online votes in the Colgate Community Garden Challenge.

One unit of oral care waste = 10 'Garden Points'. The more the Garden Points, the more chances we have of winning product to help with our garden!

We will hold an oral care collection point at Junior School Reception and Senior School Reception between Week 1 – Week 5 of Term 2 (19 April – 21 May). Your job is to bring any oral care product you’ve finished with at home and drop them off at Reception. The more product we collect, the better chance we have of winning some garden prizes for our NEW 2021 KILVINGTON Veggie Patch!

The picture below shows some examples of items you can collect and drop off:

Etiquette for students riding bikes to/from School

We have recently recieved complaints from neighbours and drivers about our students not following cycling road rules. Students have been observed:

  • On phones whilst riding.
  • Riding on footpaths.
  • Not riding in single file on the road.
  • Riding without a helmet.

Please ensure that if your child is riding their bike to School, that they follow road rules for cyclists. A letter has already been sent to all parents regarding this issue.

A reminder – dropping off and picking up around the School

Please be respectful of our local and School community when parking/dropping off/picking up at and around the School. This includes not parking in School driveways, across crossings, across residents’ driveways, on nature strips and in No Standing and restricted areas. The local Council has been particularly active of late fining parents for parking across the crossing in Lillimur Road when dropping off and picking up children.

Please be mindful of parents waiting to drop off their children in the various zones around the School. If you could please drop your children off as quickly as possible and move on, regardless  of the time allowed, it will help reduce the level of congestion around the School and frustration experienced by waiting parents.

For parents of senior school students, please consider parking or dropping them off from nearby streets to walk the short distance to School. Parents who are using the 25 minute parking areas to escort their children into primary school, please vacate the area once your child is safely dropped off.
