Principal's Report
I would like to warmly welcome our whole Staughton family to the 2021 school year by thanking everyone for their care and support of each other in 2020. The VCE results in late December were further evidence of the hard work, collaboration and commitment of students, teacher and parents/carers last year. We were thrilled at the consistent results of all of our students, and of achieving nine ATAR scores of above 80 including a 99.25. Our results were really quite remarkable given the year we had. Our community really came together to support our students to achieve our school vision.
‘As a collaborative community we take on the challenge of creating a culture where ambition meets excellence. This is a culture where students develop academically, socially and personally to become the best versions of themselves, through a focus on teaching about effort, learning and respect. In doing this, students will be actively engaged in their passions both inside and outside the classroom.’
We have aligned all of our work in 2021 on the Department of Education 2021 priorities:
- Learning, catch up and extension
- Happy active and healthy kids
- Connected schools priority
Our community has diverse strengths, interests and abilities. This year I am looking forward to students using their strengths to thrive inside and outside the classroom to succeed. Teachers will be continuing to set weekly learning interactions to monitor student achievement. We have a strong focus in 2021 on students completing these learning interactions in a timely way so that can ensure all students are succeeding. As always attendance at school every day is vital to be able to do this.
We have published our Health and Safety information prior to students recommencing. It is important that everyone follows the procedures that will keep us safe and onsite in 2021.
Look forward to seeing you all at some stage this year. I am particularly looking forward to meeting new families that have joined us for the first time in 2021.
