FIRST NATIONS
New Indigenous Artworks
We are very excited to see our new First Nations designs displayed around the school. We have worked very hard at school meetings and at the Yarra Ranges Tech School Program on individual and group projects.
As you walk into our school, you will see our new Wominjeka sign, designed by Zac in Year 8, welcoming you to our school.
Aylshah from Year 10, has created an Acknowledgement of Country sign, as we recognise the Wurunjeri people as the Traditional Owners of the land that our school lies upon.
Our new CENTRAL HUB has been named 'Bagung Kertheba' which means 'gather together' in Woi-Wurrung.
As a group, we came up with this name and decided to put the symbol of meeting place, to symbolise the purpose of the space.
Walking through the Middle School breezeway, you can read about each of our flags, the Aboriginal flag, Torres Strait Islander flag and Australian flag, put together by Dylan in Year 10.
We have also been working with local First Nations artists on developing a new Indigenous school logo, and on creating a Possum Skin Cloak.
We look forward to seeing more of our designs come to life around the school.
