PE Updates

It’s been a busy start to the term for our senior interschool sports teams. Our basketball teams hit the courts at Boardman Stadium on July 26th. There were some very impressive skills on show and as always, the St Brigid’s teams demonstrated exemplary sportsmanship.  All three of our teams walked away with a few wins and a few losses. A big thank you to Colin Bischof and Rebecca Bartlett for coaching the girls and mixed teams.

Our superstar A Girls netball team represented the Macedon Ranges District at the Western Metropolitan Finals day on July 28th.   After a wobbly start the girls regrouped to beat their second opponent and challenge the overall winners of the day losing to Bacchus Marsh Grammar by only two goals.  It was such an impressive effort to get to this level of the competition, the girls should be very proud of their performance. A big thank you to Nicola Connors who coached the girls through both competition days.

The Junior and Senior students have been very lucky to have Mario and Jeremy from Spark Tennis join them in their PE lessons the last three weeks. Students have been working on their forehands and having a lot of fun developing their fitness and tennis skills in these intensive tennis sessions.

Thank you to Mario and Jeremy from Spark Tennis who have been running wonderful tennis clinics with the Senior and Junior students this term.  If your child has enjoyed these sessions Mario and Jeremy invite them to a free after school session.

Pesky Plastics Competition

Earlier in Term 1 our Junior, Middle and Senior students partook in the Macedon Ranges Shire Council "Pesky Plastics" recycled art competition. They utilised both their Art and Sustainability sessions over several weeks to produce some amazing art works with inspiring messages about single plastic use and the detrimental effect it has on our environment. We were very proud delivering so many artworks to the council. Whilst we didn't take out the Winning Artwork (1 winning student for all Primary School entries) we did have several students which were shortlisted as finalists. As you can see they very cleverly used their plastics to convey some powerful messages. Congratulations to these students as well as all our students who created with enthusiasm, diligence and careful consideration to the purpose of the artwork.
