Kitchen Garden

On behalf of Buildings & Grounds sub-committee of School Council,

THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the Kitchen Garden Planting Day on 22 July.

It was a joyous day that was the culmination of years of planning and fundraising. Over 40 Chatham families participated on the day, with activities that included:

  • planting edible seedlings
  • installation of trellis and planting of trees for an espaliered archway
  • planting bare-rooted fruit trees
  • designing and painting plant markers
  • art and craft activities
  • identifying plants
  • worm hunting
  • planting indigenous tube stock for World Tree Day

Big thank you to Jess Wilson MP for Kew whose team provided a delicious BBQ.

Prior to the day, Miranda Talbot spent many hours coordinating the delivery and filling of the new raised beds, planning the landscaping, ordering plants and trees, and constructing the new bench seating around the gum tree. Huge thanks to Miranda for her immense efforts for Chatham.

We are keen for volunteers to step forward to help keep our gardens thriving, and if you are interested, we would encourage you to become a Chatham Grounds Champion. This means you (and a friend) could take responsibility for one small patch of Chatham’s grounds. Please see the Chatham Grounds Champions flyer in this newsletter!

THANKYOU!
