BROCCOLINI & RHUBARB!

Our hero ingredients fresh from our kitchen garden for this fortnight are broccolini and rhubarb!

We used the broccolini to make broccolini and pea fritters. This gave the students an opportunity to practise their chopping and whisking skills! The fritters were then fried until they were golden and crispy and were served with a yoghurt sauce!

We poached the rhubarb in some water, sugar and orange blossom water until it was just tender so it held its shape and didn't go too mushy! When we asked the students to describe the flavour of the rhubarb, many answered with "sweet with a hint of sour!"

To accompany our delicious rhubarb, we made some granola by mixing the dry ingredients (rolled oats, seeds, coconut, cinnamon and sultanas) with the wet ingredients (honey and coconut oil) and then baked the mixture in the oven. This was a real hit with the students, with many asking for seconds!

100 DAYS OF PREP!

The Prep students celebrated 100 days of Prep this week and to celebrate we made a 100cm pizza! We measured our pizza using a one metre ruler.

For dessert we used 100's and 1000's to make fairy bread in a heart shape.

It was a fun day in the kitchen and there were smiles all round!

Recipes have yet again been in high demand, which is fantastic to hear! Please click the links below if you would like to try them at home.

Happy cooking everyone!

Garden News

Why are trees so important to our existence - always a great topic to chat about with our students before we get into Tree Planting Week. Last week we celebrated and took park in PlanetArkś Tree day. Frankston Council donated native trees for our students to plant, which we planted in our Prayer Garden and Pond area.

Our students did an amazing job of planting and replanting vegetation throughout our school grounds, a big thanks to our wonderful Sustainability Leaders that lead fun garden activities on Friday at  both playtimes.  A Big effort.

Our preps also got to make native Seed packs and even had the chance to celebrate their 100 days of Prep by making their own nature collage.

Im sure our newly planted native trees will be nurtured by our students and will be around for many years to come.

Well done Gardeners.

Happy Gardening.
