Incursion
Years Three and Four took part in a sustainability incursion recently. They got to plan a new city, learnt about the problem of plastic pollution and the production cycle of food, taking home their own lettuce seed. Many students have been inspired to make changes at BBPS.
Vivi R, Zoe and Tilly have started an initiative called “Straws Suck” aiming to reduce waste of straws. “We saw a 9-year-old say that we need to be better with banning plastic straws. We really understood it and we knew we had to do something so we thought if we made a poster we could hopefully get people to listen.”
Will W and Harry J have been leading a group picking up rubbish in the yard. “We know it’s really helping the environment plus it’s fun, and doing it with your friends makes it even more fun.”

Grade 6 Youth Forum with our Federal Member of Parliament
Tash (6G) "We were invited to attend a special youth forum with Zoe Daniel. When we got there we got into little groups. I was in the group talking about social media and its impacts on the younger generation. We then presented back to the whole forum about why our topic was the most important. We then participated in a vote to decide which issue was the most important to young people."
Tess (6G) "On Friday we went to Zoe Daniel's first Youth Leadership Forum. Year sixes from all the different primary schools in her electorate were invited to attend. When the final vote was counted the most important issue for young people today is rubbish, litter and waste. We asked Zoe Daniel to come on our radio show and she said she would. Our radio show happens on Southern FM (88.3) and we hope to have Zoe on as our guest some time this term."
