Child Safe Policies

What are the Child Safe Standards?

There are 11 standards to ensure that organisations implement a series of strategies to ensure children are safe and protected from harm and abuse.

All Victorian government schools must be compliant with the Child Safe Standards – BBPS exceeded all requirements as part of the 2022 School Review process. Our next formal review will be in four years, however policies and procedures are revisited annually.

For more information on the Child Safe standards go to: https://ccyp.vic.gov.au/child-safe-standards/

And read our Child Safe Policy, which unpacks the different standards and the roles and responsibilities of all members of our community to create a safe environment for our students.

Staff, School Council and PA volunteers participate in annual training, informed by the following school policies:

Code of Conduct, which outlines acceptable and unacceptable behaviours of adults when working with children at our school.

Reporting and Responding Obligations and Procedures,  detailing the process to follow should an adult working within our community have any concerns about a child’s safety or wellbeing – the key first step is to please contact a member of leadership, who will support with further actions if required.

If you are a volunteer within our community, please be aware of your responsibilities within this role.

All volunteers working directly with children at BBPS must have an up to date Working With Children’s Check – this is required before you are able to take on roles such as a formal allocated role of PA, be a parent helper at carnivals/swimming, help within the classroom or excursions.

Please send a copy of your WWCC to Benita to be placed on file. It is your responsibility to ensure that this remains up to date.

Further details can be found in our Volunteers Policy.

Thank you for the collaborative approach we are able to take to ensure our students feel safe and connected at school.
