Grade 5 /Prep Buddy catch up
Our Preps love having a big buddy to talk to and our Grade 5s have been wonderful friends and mentors to our youngest students.
Lunch Time Clubs
Our Lunch Time Clubs are up and running! Ably facilitated by our grade six students, these clubs provide students with a variety of options at lunch time. We spoke to Johnny and Struan, who have started a chess club. We hope to see many students who have an interest in chess attend in the coming weeks. We will profile other clubs in future editions of the newsletter.
Johnny: "To run a lunch time club you need to be in grade 6 and you need to choose two or three people to join with you to be lunch time captains. I chose two of my best friends, Christian and Struan, to do it with. We are running a chess club. I feel it is a really good club to run because of the exciting learning possibilities and because of the fun matches”
Struan “For our first lunch time club we had some people play some games of chess and we gave them some tips. Next time we hope to see some people who don’t yet know how to play chess and we can explain how to play, including how the pieces move and the rules. We have worked on some slides to explain how each piece moves and we think this will be helpful for new chess players”
Our lunch time club will run every Wednesday from 2pm -2.30pm (starting at the halfway point of lunch) for the rest of term 1.
Time: Wednesday from 2pm to 2:30pm (Second half of lunch)
Place: The Knuckle
Captains: Johnny, Struan and Christian
