Parents' Association

Parents' Association Meeting - Term 1

Our Parents' Association meetings for 2020 will be held on the fourth Monday of each Term. We encourage all parents to come along as it is a quick and easy way to keep your finger on the pulse of what is happening at the College as well as an opportunity to have your say on how our Parent Association funds are spent.

Our Term 1 meeting will be held at 7:00pm Monday 24 February in the Thomas More Exhibition Centre.

Funding applications

At every meeting funding submissions from parents and staff are voted on by the parents present, and Parents’ Association funds awarded accordingly. If you have any ideas for how the Parents’ Association funds could be spent please don’t hesitate to submit a proposal. The Guidelines for Funding Proposal Form must be completed (you can download one from the school website, or below), then submitted to parentsassociation@johnxxiii.edu.au . The deadline for submissions is noon on Friday of Week 2, Friday 14 February. All funding proposals for vote on will be publicised in the College Newsletter the week before the meeting.

We wish you a happy start to the school year and we look forward to seeing you at our next meeting.

Other 2020 meeting dates

  • Term 2: Monday 18 May 2020
  • Term 3: Monday 10 August 2020
  • Term 4: Monday 2 November 2020 (Meeting and AGM)

The meetings are open to all staff and parents / guardians of students at John XXIII College to raise and discuss matters of common concern and interest. They are a great way to find out what is happening at the College, meet parents from other year groups and be involved in decision-making on proposed funding initiatives.

The objective of the Parents' Association

The Parents' Association plays an integral role in many aspects of College life.

The main roles are in the areas of: Financial (Funding Proposals voted on each meeting), Social (Parents' Association Liaison – PAL and Men of John XXIII), Pastoral (Roncalli Care) and Education ('Inspire').

The main objective is to support the College by providing physical assistance, raising funds (such as through the parent levy) and promoting social interaction between the parents and guardians of students attending the College.

The overall aim of the Parents' Association

To provide an opportunity for parents to partner the College in the education and support of their children and to strengthen the values of the College community, based on the Ignatian tradition of:

  • Seeking Justice - awareness of the needs of others and readiness to place one's talents at their service
  • Personal concern for the whole life of each student
  • Development of a broad liberal education
  • Emphasis on critical thinking and effective communication
  • Striving for excellence
  • A pervading philosophy with emphasis on actions rather than words
  • Seeking out and doing what God is wanting people to do in their lives

John XXIII College is renowned for its strong community ties that are fostered and celebrated by an active and welcoming parent body.
