From the Principal
Welcome to the new year
There is always a tinge of excitement and possibly some apprehension as the new school year begins.
This year we welcome 238 new students for the very first time. I wish them an enjoyable and rewarding association with our College.
In our introductory letter, we annouced new members of staff and we also have the pleasure of welcoming the following staff on their return after a period of leave:
- Mrs Shauna Craig
- Mrs Caroline Cibesku
- Ms Rita De Faria
- Ms Lorrelle Fortune
- Mrs Jenifer Leckey
- Ms Carly Moore
- Mrs Alison Pattinson
This week we also pray for and remember all those impacted by bushfires and the coronavirus. It has been a challenging few months in Australia and beyond. I also thank members of our community for being respectful of the request for voluntary exclusion where applicable. Please note the most recent advice indicates that students who visited or transited through Hong Kong are no longer subject to exclusion and can return to school immediately.
We have placed hand sanitisers in classrooms as a means of reinforcing health and safety measures for the beginning of the school year.
Parent information evenings
This week I had the pleasure of briefly visiting Primary School classrooms and attended year level assemblies in all secondary year levels. It was great to see our young people enthusiastically and cheerfully beginning the next phase of their educational journey.
Our Parent Information evenings have commenced and, as always, they have been very well attended. The excellent partnership between students, staff and parents is one of the reasons our College functions so effectively.
Last year we introduced Parent Badges as a means of assisting with identification and it would be great if the badges can be worn at scheduled events. Thank you also to all families for their patience with parking congestion at the beginning of the year.
I wish all our students, staff and families well for a wonderful 2020.
