Woolworths Earn and Learn

Last week, Woolworths delivered our supplies that were ordered from the Earn and Learn program. In the supplies, we have some new dolls for the Hall, stethoscopes, play money, a garden trough - with seeds and shovels, a weather dial and some games. Woolworths donated some fruit for the students as well! Thank you to the community for donating all the Earn and Learn stickers. We would also like to thank Woolworths, South Melbourne for supporting Galilee.

School Education Board

On behalf of the School Education Board, I would like to extend a warm welcome back to all of our students and their families and in particular, welcome those students & families who have commenced at Galilee this year.

Term 1 is well underway and it’ll be Term 2 before we know it!

As I am sure you will agree, Galilee is a very busy school community & it is wonderful to see everyone embrace the opportunities that an education at our school provides.

The School Education Board have convened the first of eight (8) scheduled meetings for 2018.

It was a chance to reflect on our efforts through 2017 and to set our objectives for this coming year.

I will share those objectives with you all after our next scheduled meeting in March.

In the meantime, I would like you to know everyone who serves on the School Education Board and offers their time & expertise to enhance the wellbeing of our students and provide advice to our School’s Leadership Team.

1000 Wishes at Galilee: Our Community Project

Did you know that in Japanese culture the crane is a symbol of good health, longevity and truth….

What if you could have one wish? What would it be? According to Japanese tradition, folding 1,000 paper cranes gives you a chance to make one special wish. We would like to share our wishes with you.

Claudia, Sadie, Tivona and Tina are working together to make 1000 paper cranes. From Friday the 9th of March, we will be setting up a table on the grass area, where you can come and write your wishes on our cranes. We will then hang our cranes around the office area. If you would like to donate to Project Compassion, we will have a box set up. We look forward to seeing you and combining our wishes.

Thank you!

Claudia, Sadie, Tivona and Tina

D.O.G.S

Well the Dogs are barking for 2018, as the Dads of Galilee and SO's, ventured out for the season opener,  "Pie Night" .

A night that has also become another tradition among our dads and significant males in our children's lives.

As we congregated at what has become a local kennel, The Palace, (very apt ) it was great to see see many old faces and also the vibrancy of our new faces on the block and most of all welcoming 9, new Prep Dads of 2018. Among our dads were also some newbies to the community and ones that were unable to escape the anointment of a nickname, from our resident Rock Dog Bernie Wells.

With around 45 dads, the room was vibrant and full of great topics of discussion (you sound surprised). It really is a true indication as to why we continue to connect our school community. As always is the case, it was a night of catching up on what's happening and what wonderful and exciting things we all have been doing recently.

There was banter about footy and we even found a couple of Adelaide supporters, who much to their disgust topic of conversation was a Tigers back-to-back effort.

As Pies were fare of choice, it was plain to see that you can beat an old fashioned Pie Night, with what was a laissez faire approach. Woof Woof!

I would encourage or challenge all of dads across all year levels to attend at least 2 of our nights over the year. Of course things crop up and work commitments take priority, we always look forward to having you onboard soon. Stay connected and keep in the loop as to what FUN stuff, we have coming up.

We look forward to another great year, and yes it officially "The Year of the DOG". The T-shirts are on the Press, so we'll keep you posted.

Let's keep up the great work, we have an amazing bunch of dads that can no doubt contribute in many ways to the rich tapestry that makes up Galilee.

Open Day Preparation

As you have probably seen, we have 4 Open Day Boards around the community. We would like to thank Brendan Coburn from The Agency for donating the boards, Helen Di Natale for designing the graphics and Nicole Anderson for the photographs. The boards look amazing!
