Our third and final breakfast menu is now complete. The last two weeks of term 1 and the first week of term 2 saw the students enjoying:

  • Apple cinnamon and sultana muffins
  • Peach compote
  • Honey ricotta
  • Toasted Muesli

There was an interesting difference between the 3/4 students and the 5/6s. I noticed the 3/4 students were a little more open to trying a new and different flavour with the honey ricotta, but on the whole, I saw an amazing response to the entire menu.

Over these last 3 menus we’ve talked a lot about the importance of breakfast and how food is the fuel for our bodies, and without breakfast we just don’t work! Looking back, I would have to say the children most enjoyed the muesli from our fruit salad menu, so with this in mind I have included that recipe in this newsletter. This is something the children can make on a Sunday to eat for breakfast throughout the week.

As per usual I welcome any parents, aunties, uncles, grandparents or family friends to become a kitchen classroom helper, especially for the 5/6 class where we really need a few more helping hands on deck. All you need to come on board is a current working with children check, (which is free for volunteers) and to have attended a parent helper training session with Patrick Halpin.
