EDUCATION WEEK AT KINGSWOOD PRIMARY

HEALTHY MIND HEALTHY BODY

OPEN DAY/NIGHT- MONDAY 22ND MAY AT 9:30AM & 6:30PM

The school will be holding an Open Day and Night on Monday May 22nd. During the day, classes will be open from 9:30 -10:30 am. During the evening, we will have various activities in each classroom that will engage students, parents and teachers promoting HEALTHY MIND HEALTHY BODY.  We invite our parents to Open Day/Night activities; it is a great opportunity to see your child at work.  Research tells us that when parents take an active interest in their child’s education, students perform better.

Our year 6 students will be acting as tour guides during the day for new prospective families. There will be no guided tours in the evening; this is to enable our Year 6 students to participate in Healthy Mind Healthy Body activities.

JAPAN TOUR

We are very excited to announce that we have two groups of students participating in our 2017 Japan Study Tour.  The first group of students (12 in total) leave next week on Wednesday 10th May and the second group of students (9 in total) leave on the 24th May. The students will spend nine nights in Japan visiting cultural attractions around Tokyo and Hiroshima.  We will also be visiting Disneyland.

I will have the pleasure of accompanying the students along with Mr Kato and Mr Cox. This is now our fourth study tour to Japan. We know that the students will have an exciting time learning firsthand about Japanese culture and language.

Please note that Mr Patrick Halpin is acting principal in my absence.

THINKING CONFERENCE

Last week the school was buzzing with educators from across the state who attended our inaugural Thinking Conference.  We had international and national keynote speakers and very inspiring local educators including our own staff, Miss Jenna Herbert, Miss Bree Morgan and Mrs Maddie Rowles present workshops.  The conference was an opportunity for Kingswood to showcase the school as a 'Thinking Culture’ school.  I take this opportunity of acknowledging and thanking my dedicated, passionate, creative staff for their work in planning for this event, in particular Sharron Cramer our Thinking Cultures Coordinator.

WEDDING BELLS

We congratulate Miss Julia Heyes and her new husband Adam on their recent wedding. Several of our staff, including myself witnessed this memorable event. On behalf of the school community, we wish the happy couple all the very best for the future.
