Assistant Principal News

We would like to welcome everyone back to Term 2!

Although these are challenging times, we have been extremely impressed with the way staff, students and parents adapted to Online Learning at the end of last term.

We have had some great feedback from members of our Marian Community about the new way of learning and about the processes that the College has put in place.

Staff also spent the last week of last Term and the first two days of this Term collaborating, collating and creating resources and learning and teaching activities for students to engage with Online. This involved staff engaging with new Digital Pedagogy such as Google Sites, Video Puppetry and Screencastify, to then use in their Online Classroom.

We are also excited, however, about the return of students and staff to the College from Week 3. As a result, staff have been working hard to prepare for the students to return to a safe yet comfortable School environment. In addition, an attendance survey has been sent to Parents and Carers for each year group. The purpose of this survey is to gain an understanding how many students will be likely returning to School in Week 3. Parents are asked to complete the survey by Monday.

Further to this, we encourage all parents and students to familiarise themselves with our Online Learning Plan and Process Term 2 Update so that they understand the procedures for learning to start this Term. This document along with many other important resources can be located on our newly established College Learning From Home Website - https://sites.google.com/ww.catholic.edu.au/mcc-learning-from-home/home or on the Compass Application.

Finally, we would like to remind parents and students that scheduled video conferences for classes are mandatory for students to participate in. It is also a compulsory requirement that students complete all set learning activities by the due date. If students consistently do not participate in Online Sessions or complete the set learning activities, parents will receive an email notification from the College. Students will need to immediately contact their teacher and complete the set work in order to meet NESA requirmenets . We appreciate your support in this matter.

Last but not least, we wanted to remind all staff, students and [arents about the importance of taking care of themselves, communicating with others and promoting well being during these times of isolation. Please see below our Well being graphic which suggests some ways that members of our Marian Community can continue to foster a positive and healthy mindset.

Yours in Learning,

Lora Segrave and Damien Herb
