Years 9 and 10 Outdoor Education Camps

Survive in the real world. Succeed in real life”. This is the philosophy behind the outdoor experiences offered by the Outdoor Education Group. Our Years 9 and 10 students were able to explore this philosophy over the past few weeks as they participated in their end of semester Outdoor Education camps.

The Year 9 overnight camp to the Manjedal Activity Centre in week 4 introduced students to new and memorable experiences. It was a fantastic way for the Outdoor Education students to develop friendships and build a stronger sense of community. The group embraced the activities and showed a positive attitude for the duration of the camp.

The Year 10 Expedition to Margaret River run by Explorus Adventure Learning and the Outdoor Education Group gave the Year 10’s an outlet from school and study. Students were encouraged to take ownership and engage with the learning process in an experiential, active way. Student relationships, resilience, self-confidence and wellbeing were all areas positively influenced by the challenging activities and communal living environments.

Students returned from their camps feeling more adaptable and with an increased sense of their own worth and ability to make a positive difference to the wider community. I am also confident that they have developed deeper connections to each other and with the natural environment.

Well done to all participants and thank you to all supporting staff and the external providers who assisted on our programs.
