Thanking our volunteers

Last week we hosted a function to express our thanks and gratitude to our parents who give so generously of their time for the benefit of the College. Our parents contribute positively in many facets of life at John XXIII College. At the function, we specifically acknowledged Sharon Aquino (Secondary Convenor), Simon Fracaro (President of the Parent Association) and Loretta Byrd (Coordinator of Inspire) as they concluded their period of service.

It is fascinating meeting with our parents and learning of their incredible professional and personal lives. However, there is no role more important than being a parent.

In addition to the wonderful love and support provided to their children, parental engagement is possible at the College through groups such as:

• Parent Association including year level Parent Association Liaison (PALs)
• Friends of Music and Drama
• Rowing Club
• Netball Club
• Canteen
• Uniform Shop
• Men of John XXIII
• College Council and Sub Committees
• INSPIRE Group
• Roncalli Care

In providing a gift of love and service, our parents set an outstanding example for their children. I also acknowledge the work of our dedicated staff as they create the conditions conducive to such positive interaction. The ubiquitous, Mr Ric Del Pizzo (Community Relations), is superb in his liaising role and his work is complemented by many other staff at the College.

This week we welcomed prospective Kindy and Year 7 parents and I am sure that the spirit of parental commitment will continue to be a hallmark of the College in the future.
