Wow! That was a Term

At the end of last term, we were busy preparing for a very different way of supporting our learners with a range of learning options due to the COVID-19 pandemic and then started Term 2 with our plans having suddenly changed again, due to a quick return to ‘school as normal.’

All of this recent uncertainty in the community, world and our school has highlighted how very professional and adaptable our staff are, particularly when under pressure and faced with the unknown.

Our staff stepped up, turned up to school each day and showed wonderful collegiality, collaboration and compassion.

The importance of friendships and social interactions for our students was highlighted, when on return from ‘learning at home’ the number one comment from students was around missing their friends.

Our school community have been amazing with many positive comments highlighting a new-found appreciation for the work that school staff do, and whilst still cautious when students were able to return to school, were happy to send them back to us.

I would like to say a huge thank you to parents/carers for your kind words and support for our staff, and your patience and follow through in supporting us with the ‘Social Distancing’ measures, including not entering units and classrooms.

Looking Forward to Term 3…

Due to South Australia being a leader in managing the Pandemic, we have had notification from the Department for Education about the next stage of managing a return to ‘normal,’ with a number of restrictions now being lifted.

As of Term 3 The Following Activities Will Resume

  • Parents, volunteers, departmental support and other service providers may again enter school units and classrooms.
  • School photos will go ahead on Friday 21 August.
  • Sports day.
  • Breakfast Club on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, commencing on Tuesday 28 July.
  • School Assemblies.
  • Open Days.
  • Governing Council Sub-Committee meetings onsite.

Requirements That Remain In Place:

  • It’s important that students and staff stay home if they are unwell.
  • Physical contact (even between students) must be limited. Non-physical greetings should be encouraged.
  • The general public should not access school playgrounds or play equipment.
  • Physical Distancing guidelines remain in place and Parents adhere to these at drop-off, in classrooms and at pick up time.
  • Parents/carers are asked to NOT use the Library as a thoroughfare to other Units – please continue to walk around.

If your contact details change, please ensure you update them with Lee in the front office in the event that we need to contact you urgently or need to enact our Rapid Action Plan that was emailed to all families early this term.

We wish you all a relaxing and safe holiday with your families. I know we are looking forward to and will all be enjoying ours.
