Around the school

P & F Date Night

Date night is for you to enjoy some 'child-free' time while your children are supervised by GGOSH staff. It is on Friday 28 August from 6-9 pm.

Children will be fed pizza, watch a movie and have a snack. The cost is $5 per family and payment can be made via the QKR! app. Please make sure that you fill out the form on Qkr! to include all children's names and an emergency contact name and number for catering and staffing purposes. Please note, only children over 3 years of age and out of nappies can be catered for at GGOSH.  If your children are already in GGOSH after school, please speak to staff about giving your permission to sign them out of GGOSH and into Date Night. We will advise you of the movie when it has been decided.

Father's Day Stall

Thursday 3 September – is held so that students can select a gift/s for their dad/important male figure for Father’s Day. Gifts are $5 each and parents can purchase a ticket for these items via the Qkr! App. Up to six gifts can be purchased by each student. Purchasing closes on 31 August at 5 pm.

Middle Of Term (MOT) Breakfast

We warmly welcome all our community to join us on Wednesday 26 August from 8-8.30 am. Our P & F will be providing muffins and there will be coffee available to purchase from Café Connect.

weeks, this mural will be designed from the results of conversations with students and staff.

Pupil Free Day

When our school calendar was devised at the start of the year, we, of course, had no idea of the chaos we would be thrown into! A number of our school events have been cancelled, others modified and others not compromised at all. A pupil free day was designated for Friday 4th September, which was to have been ‘Show Day’. As we know the Adelaide Show has been cancelled for the year, however, we are still planning to hold this day as a pupil free day as it had been planned to use this as professional learning day for staff (Endeavour College and Good Shepherd are also designating this as pupil free). GGOSH will be available (with limits capped).

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are welcome into classes and the canteen once again.

The canteen is desperately in need of volunteers. Even if you can fill in from time to time for an hour or two; each hour of help makes a difference.

School events for the rest of the year

Due to the restrictions that are placed on us as a school (in particular for large gatherings and indoor events), we have had to put a lot of thought into the events that were planned for the remainder of the year. The following has been decided:

Any events that require a large gathering indoors have been cancelled for the rest of the year. Therefore:

  • SPA (Special Persons Afternoon) will not occur;
  • Carols in the worship centre. The P. & F. End of year picnic will still occur (Friday 27th November) but there will be no carols following the picnic.
  • MOT (Middle of Term breakfast): term 3 and 4. These two outdoor events will still occur.
  • Sports Day: Sports Day will be held on the last day of term 3 (Friday 26th September).Book Week 2020 – Curious Creatures Wild Minds

Student Enrolment 2021

The school’s enrolment policy is such that families need to give a term’s notice to receive the enrolment deposit back. Also we are at a stage in the year where we need to have an indication of enrolment so that class structures can be determined for 2021. These forms will be distributed early next week so you can indicate your intentions for the 2021 school year. Can you please complete this and return to the office.

Camps/Excursions

It is great to be able to offer the students camps and excursions once again. The year 3/4s have had their annual camp this week at the Mylor Baptist Camp while the year 1/2s have visited Monarto Zoo (both year levels) and had an overnight stay there (yr 2). Camps and excursions are important to complement the teaching and learning programme: reinforce concepts and knowledge being taught and also social and emotional skills.

Refurbishment work

You will have noticed some minor works being carried around the school at the moment. It’s certainly great to see the changes that are occurring:

Reception area: This area will be finished very shortly. We have had some minor delays with cabinetry but that will soon be sorted. Once finished we will be able to more easily showcase student work.

Gardens: The gardens are being refreshed and over the coming weeks you will notice a big difference in these around the school.

We are excited to announce our Book Week events for 2020!

We have decided to celebrate book week this term instead of in Term 4, we are aware of how busy Term 4 can get with other events leading up to the summer holidays.

Get your diaries out! – Pencil these dates in…….

Tuesday 25th - Book week dress-up day and parade

The theme for book week this year is Curious Creature Wild Minds, It gives students the opportunity to escape into another world, think a favourite book character/creature, nature, jungles, sea creatures, dinosaurs, imaginary or mythological creatures, adventurers, explorers and scientists.
