From the Principal

Dear Parents,

Over the last twelve months/two years we have had a very strong focus on promoting the school values and mission. We have undertaken this in a variety of ways; as a whole school community and in classes. In the last few newsletters, I have written about our key focus areas and values.

Last week our mural artist, Sam, spoke with the Peer Leaders on how they would represent the school in a mural. This mural is being funded by the P. & F. and will cover the whole wall of the ‘chill-out’ zone.

The Peer Leaders talked with their classes about what represents the school; what and who is GGLPS. I was so proud of the students as they highlighted community, faith, care, nurture, relationships, safety, positive learning environments and gave great examples of it in practice. Sam himself has worked with a number of schools and he was astounded at how well the students articulated this but also did so with authenticity.

Our message/culture is obviously permeating the fabric of the school. I have complimented the staff on their work in this area and their efforts can be seen in the students. It will be exciting to see the end result. A concept picture will be shared with the Peer Leaders in the coming weeks and their voice will be heard while the final design is being developed.

At the end of this week, I will be taking five weeks of long service leave. The original plan was to attend our son’s wedding in August in Canada…..now I will be looking for something else to do!! Tim Kriewaldt will be the acting principal during this time with the support of Jayne Zadow and the staff.

Blessings,

Shane
