BASE 1271

Welcome back to Term 3!

We hope you all had a relaxing holiday break and are ready for some fun and games in Term 3!

Despite the Covid-19 situation, Base 1270 is operating as normal and we expect that will continue, even if the lockdown zone is extended to include Ballarat.

Vacation Care

We had an awesome week at our Term 2 holiday program. Although we didn’t have excursions this time around, we didn’t let that stop us having fun.

Our favourite day was Friday the 3rd of July, where the children competed against each other “Ready, Steady Cook” style. It was Strawberries v Tomatoes. The Tomatoes cooked us up a beautiful lunch of vegetarian pasta made with carrots, zucchini and fresh tomatoes. Whereas the Strawberries delivered us a delicious Mars Bar slice and Homemade Damper served with jam.

We look forward to seeing what our next Term Vacation Care program will shape up to be.

 Gardening

As some of you know, every Thursday night we have Dr Jones and Miss Maria from the Friends of the Botanical Gardens come down to assist and teach the children about gardening. In term 3. Dr. Jones will assist the children in planting some winter veggies.

ASC Program

Throughout the year we have been choosing an outcome from the EYLF (Early Years Learning Framework) as our focus for the month. Within every outcome are standards in which guide the planning of our weekly theme.

This week’s theme was based on Standard 1.4 which states “Children learn to interact in relation to others with care, empathy and respect”.

Our team goal for this theme was to build stronger friendships.

For the following couple weeks we will be focussing on;

Standard 1.3 “Children develop knowledgeable and confident self-identities”

Standard 1.1 “Children feel safe, secure and supported”

By having these weekly goals we hope to encourage all children to be comfortable enough to express their feelings and engage respectfully with others.

Keeping our children and staff safe and healthy

Thanks to everyone for following the request to drop off and pick up your children from the foyer. This is an important strategy in preventing the spread of Covid-19 and we thank you for your cooperation. Remember if you ever forget the new code for the front door, there is a sign on the door with a Base 1270 contact number. Just give us a call and we’ll be happy to come out and open the door for you.

We have increased our cleaning and hygiene practices and are all in a good routine now with hand washing and sanitizing and will continue to make this a priority.

Just a friendly reminder to families that if your child is unwell we ask that you do not send them to the program.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you all soon.
