Wellbeing MATTERS!
Wellbeing MATTERS!
Dear Families,
I thought I would start the term out by talking a little bit more about the importance of wellbeing. As we work our way through the ‘COVID-19’ maze you should all be proud of how you and your families are doing! There have been a lot of challenges to our emotional and mental health, including our resilience to deal with the ongoing nature of COVID-19. At this time over the last few months I have been reading articles about this and it always seems to lead me back to a point - “CARING for OURSELVES, LOVED ONES AND THOSE CLOSE TO US - friends, neighbours, classmates, etc”. We all need to be shown and receive love and care to grow and maintain our wellness. We need to show that we care and share a little ‘love’ with those around us. Simply, maybe a kind word, a caring gesture or just checking in on someone and asking “Are you OK?”. We need to model this for the young people around us, positive behaviours, thoughts and actions that will in turn help our Sacred Heart community grow stronger and more supportive. I believe we have all been working together to care for one another and it is vital we continue to do this.
I have attached a graphic - “How to support your child’s mental health”. So much of this we are all already doing for our children and doing it extremely well and our children are all doing well. Well done.
However, I share it with you as a reminder of the importance of wellbeing for ourselves; our children and all those we come into contact with. Take a few moments to read it and maybe if you can just put a little more focus on one or two of the elements identified and share it with those around you!
Specifically, tell your child(ren) how proud you are of them and make a fuss of their achievements - no matter how small - and watch them light up and see their confidence grow.
Food for thought!
Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns or worries around the return on your child(ren) to school.
