Accessing services for hearing, dental and sight checks

Eye concerns in children may present as constant eye rubbing, extremely sensitive to light, poor focusing, unable to see things at a distance, difficulty reading or sitting too close to the TV. 

If you have concerns regarding your child's vision you can make an appointment by calling either an optometrist below, these services are generally bulk billed and do not cost you anything.

Hearing concerns may present as speech difficulties, children not paying attention, difficulty in learning, needing the television volume up high, not answering questions or answering inappropriately, frequent ear infections in the past, and being exposed to very loud sounds/noises. 

If you have a phone and head set/earphones at home, you can test your child by using the SOUND SCOUT app. If you do not have access feel free to contact Jane (BWPS Nurse) on 0447 845 563 to assist you. If further testing is required Australian Hearing can assist on 13 44 32.

 

Children are recommended to have dental check-ups every 6 to 12 months. If there are concerns such as toothache and throbbing or swollen red gums, a dental visit is recommended.

Jane is available at school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays and is based in the health hub. Families are also welcome to pop into the health hub to discuss any health concerns.
