‘Relationships, Safety and Bullying’ Surveys

Please note planning is underway for students, parents/carers and staff to have the opportunity to participate in this survey in Week 9. An email will be sent to members of the College community providing a link that will allow access to the survey, which will take approximately five to ten minutes to complete.

Students will be given the opportunity in their survey to anonymously report occasions of bullying during 2022.

Similar surveys have been conducted in past years, providing the opportunity for longitudinal comparisons. The data provided in the responses from students, parents/carers and staff will be extremely useful in providing further evidence to affirm current practices whilst also giving feedback on how the College can develop in the areas identified within the survey. The data will be disseminated to members of the College Community in Term 2.

Lenten Dances

Parents of students in Years 7-10 were sent an email on Tuesday 22 March advising that a new round of ticket sales will be available for a brief time on Thursday 24 March from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

A reminder that all students will be required to hand in their mobile phone prior to entering the venue. We ask that boys bring their mobile phones in a labelled snap-lock bag (name, HR) so the devices can be effectively returned at the end of the evening. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

‘Safe on Social’ Cyber Safety Presentations

The students in Years 8, 9 and 10 were given the opportunity on Tuesday 22 March to hear from our Parents’ and Friends’ Forum presenter, Kirra Pendergast, about aspects of being safe on social media. Kirra outlined to the boys recent changes to legislation relating to taking, storing and distributing harmful content on different social media platforms. She also explained a number of case studies, including consequences, that highlighted the ramifications of inappropriate use.

Details and links will be provided in future editions of the Especean indicating where ‘Fact Sheets’ can be found on the topics covered by Kirra in her presentations.
