Term 1 Interim Reports for Years 7 to 11

By the end of this week, the Term 1 Interim Reports on students of Years 7 to 11 will be available online to parents/carers via the TASS Parent Lounge

Each student from Years 7 to 11 will receive a Term 1 Interim Report. The purpose of the Report is to provide parents with early feedback, albeit not comprehensive at this stage, on how their son/s have commenced their learning in the new scholastic year and how they have settled into school routine.

It is important for parents/carers to note that each subject report is based only on the teacher’s professional judgement and early impression of student learning habits, since substantive formal assessment of learning in many courses have not taken place in the time the reports have been compiled.

It is worth noting a few key features of the report include:

  •  Attendance up to and including Friday 18 March.

  • The Homeroom Teacher’s Pastoral Profile which describes the student’s general school and homeroom practices associated with grooming and uniform, co-operation, manner, punctuality, responsibility and initiative. These profile elements are described as Consistently, Usually, Sometimes or Rarely

  • The Class Teacher’s report on the student’s Learning Dispositions associated with classwork, homework, lesson engagement, pride in presentation of own work and acting on teacher feedback. These Learning Dispositions are described as Consistently, Usually, Sometimes or Rarely

  • The Class Teacher’s report on the student’s Personal and Social Habits with respect to punctuality, organisation, manners, conduct, working collaboratively and responsibly. These Personal and Social Habits are also described as Consistently, Usually, Sometimes or Rarely

  • An indication on the bottom of the Homeroom Teacher’s report whether it is required for the Parent or Caregiver to contact the Homeroom Teacher or the Year Coordinator. Similarly, on the bottom of the course report as it pertains to the Class Teacher or relevant Faculty Leader.

As always, parents/carers are welcome to contact relevant teachers to discuss student progress.

Year 12 Parent/Teacher Interviews and Student Academic Reports

By the end of Week 9, the Semester 1 Reports on students of Year 12 will be available online to parents/carers via the TASS Parent Lounge

The Year 12 Parent/Teacher interviews will be scheduled for the evening of Wednesday 6 April from 3:40 PM to 9:00 PM. Parents/Carers may book interview time slots themselves via the TASS Parent Lounge using the interview tab from 7:00 AM, Monday 28 March. The College will not be allocating interview times. Parents/Carers need to ensure interviews are booked by no later than 9:00 AM, Monday 4 April

All interviews will be conducted on site. Interviews are for five minutes only. There is a two-minute break between each interview to allow the interviews to run smoothly. Please note that parents/carers cannot double book a teacher for a longer interview. Should more interview time be required, parents/carers may arrange with the teacher another mutually suitable time.

There is an expectation that parents/carers will book interviews with all of their son’s teachers. There is also an expectation that students are present for the interviews.

For parents/carers encountering difficulties logging on to the TASS Parent Lounge, please contact the College’s IT Department via College Reception on 02 9763 1000.

If for any reason a parent/carer needs to cancel or change a booked interview time after 9:00 AM Monday 4 April, please contact the relevant teacher.

The Semester 1 Report is an opportunity for parents to discuss their son’s progress but more importantly, to discuss strategies and recommendations in preparing for the HSC examinations.

I would like to encourage all Year 12 students to use their time wisely during the upcoming Easter break and not let the time pass without having done substantial preparation for the second term assessments, the Trial HSC and HSC examinations. This is a very important time for Year 12 students to constructively assess their progress thus far, and to make the necessary adjustments and effort in preparation for a very demanding year ahead. Perhaps time not only to get on top of the work but also to get ahead.

Snowy Mountains Field Trip – Year 11 Geography

Students in Year 11 Geography have been studying the topic Biophysical Interactions. This involves investigating the nature and functioning of Earth’s four spheres. Recently, the group visited Jindabyne and the Kosciuszko National Park. The trip involved the students completing a combination of fieldwork and observing elements of the biophysical environment. A tour guide from NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service educated students of changes in the montane, sub-alpine and alpine zone of the Snowy Mountains. On top of this, students examined past and present human impacts, and current management strategies in place to protect and conserve the natural environments at Charlotte Pass, Perisher, and Dainers Gap. The excursion helped consolidate student understanding of the four spheres operating in the Kosciuszko Alpine Area. Thank you to Ms Ho for her contributions to this trip.
