Deputy Principal

Last week I wrote about the importance of community and kindness, and it was great to see this in action at the Senior College Athletics Carnival at Homebush last Tuesday. The thing that has pleasantly surprised me about College events is that every student gets involved. So many boys were running, jumping, and throwing at the carnival. I must admit one of the highlights for me was the way the boys challenged each other in the Tug-of-War. It was a friendly but competitive event. We were blessed on the day with sunshine which we cannot take for granted at the moment. It was a great community building activity and I congratulate Hickey on their win on the day.

This week our Year 12 students have been receiving their results from their Assessment Block. I congratulate those boys who have achieved their goals and I encourage those who were disappointed to look carefully at the areas where they have not done well and organise times with their teachers to go through their areas of development. As we move towards the end of the term, there will be assessment tasks due for all years and it is important that all boys from Years 5 – 12 have a set study regime. This includes not having their mobile phone near them when they are studying as these distractions take away from their learning opportunities. Please have a conversation with your son about his learning and check in with him about his upcoming tasks.

Supervision of Boys After School

We have become increasingly concerned at the number of boys waiting to be picked up, or waiting for their brothers to finish training, after 3:45 PM.

From Monday 28 March 2022, as soon as Kiss and Ride supervision concludes at 3:45 PM, ALL boys waiting in the school grounds or on the streets (Years 5 to 12) will be directed to wait in the Senior McGlade Library.  The Library has supervision until 4:45 PM.

There will be no exceptions.

You can call or SMS your son to come out to Fraser St to be picked up. He will be allowed to use his phone.

Alternatively, you can park and walk into the Campus and pick him up from the Library. It is found by entering the Coghlan Building, going down the stairs, and you will see the doors about 20m ahead.

The Library is supervised and is a place where boys can do homework or just sit and read/rest.

All students will be made aware of this at this Friday’s assembly. Your cooperation is much appreciated.
