Our Lenten Journey:

On Tuesday 1st March, our school launched Project Compassion for Caritas with a large cook up of pancakes. We are so grateful to the parents, staff and Year 6 leaders who helped cook over 700 pancakes for our school community, while raising over $600 on the first day of Project Compassion. Throughout the Lenten season, the Year 6 ‘SERVE’ leaders have planned activities that highlight the work of Caritas, focusing on the 3 elements - Prayer - Almsgiving - Fasting which we are called to during Lent. A note was sent home last week outlining our activities - here is the link - Project Compassion letter -  if you would like to read it again - or if it did not make its way home to your fridge!

This Friday marks the beginning of our ‘Move it in March’ effort to raise funds for Project Compassion. Each Friday before school, students are asked to unpack their bag and head to the soccer pitch to walk/run to raise awareness and funds. Children are encouraged to bring a donation on any of the Fridays for our Project Compassion box. Other events can be found on the note attached.

Shrove Tuesday

Ash Wednesday

Our school was blessed to have Deacon Jackson join us to lead our Ash Wednesday Liturgy. We gathered on the soccer pitch as a whole school community - how lucky we are to be able to gather all together once more - and listened to Jackson speak about ‘walking the talk’. When we make a commitment to turn away from sin and believe the Good News, it needs to be in words and actions. Children were sprinkled with the ashes from last years palms in symbolism of our humanity and as a visible sign of our commitment to turn back to God. Thank you to the students who supported Jackson with the liturgy and thank you Jackson for leading us in this very special occasion.

Sacramental Program.

The timeline for the 2022 Parish sacramental preparation program - ‘Steps in Faith’ has been confirmed. An expression of interest form will come home on Monday for you to indicate if your child would like to be involved.

An information session will be held on Wednesday 23rd March at 7pm, St Mary’s Church for all who are wishing to be involved. Details around the program and enrolments will be presented on the night.
