What's Happening in the Classrooms: Junior School

We treat everyone fairly.
We treat everyone fairly.

This term is passing by very quickly. The grade 1/2 students have been quite busy.

In Religious Education, the students started the term investigating "What makes me special?" Students' thinking has been challenged as they explore the significance of being made in the image and likeness of God. They have questioned what happens when people are not treated fairly. They have been exploring Lent by observing the 40 days as a time of reflection and preparation before the Easter celebration.

In Literacy, the Juniors have focused on phonics, reading and writing. In reading, the students have been learning how to predict what they are about to read and what might happen next. In writing, the Juniors have been learning about how to write a recount. We have written about our favourite memory items, weekends and special events at school, such as Shrove Tuesday and Clean Up Australia Day.

In Maths, students have worked on collecting data. Students collected data on several different topics using tally marks and displayed their data using bar graphs and pictographs.

We look forward to continuing our learning journey together and seeing where it will take us.
