Celebrating Catholic Education Week

Last week we celebrated Catholic Education Week as a school community. To start the celebrations, we had a special visit from our new Parish Priest, Fr John Prince, who visited all of the students in their classrooms.

We found out that Fr John Prince comes from Kerala, India and that he can speak fluent Italian! The students had fun getting to know Father John Prince and asked him some humorous questions such as "Do you pray too much?", "What's a billion times a billion?" and "Who are God's grandparents?" Father John Prince is quite a funny man and left saying that the students had given him lots of material for his homily on the weekend!

The Guess Who competition gave the students and teachers a lot to talk about as they tried to guess the staff members from their photos. It was a more challenging task than first thought, with many students struggling to match the adults to their childhood pictures!

The students loved the special fairy bread morning tea, and we had some fantastic entries into the art competition.

Thank you to all of the students who submitted an entry and the Juniors for inviting Mr Twomey, Ms Drossaert and myself to their Art Gallery Walk.Congratulations to Jessica, Emil, Shadrack, Giselle, and Kondiaal, the winners from each class. Here are their amazing artworks!

An amazing charity supporting children
An amazing charity supporting children

I am very excited to announce that we have partnered with a charitable organisation called Sixth Child, which is happy to support our community.

Sixth Child's Mission is to provide educational support to disadvantaged schools to ensure that all children receive a quality education. You can check out their website by following this link: https://thesixthchild.org.au/

Last week, the director Jaime Ramos visited Holy Family, kindly bringing a car full of items to donate, including some fantastic Lego kits for our Lego Club.

Part of the Sixth Child delivery included several boxes with brand new shoes for adults and children. If you or anyone in your family needs some new shoes, you are more than welcome to come to school to have a look and hopefully take some pairs home with you. There are various types, including slippers, boots and runners.

We will have the shoes available in our Community Hub on the days listed below, so please feel welcome to come and take a look. Just come to the office and tell Mrs Blaney that you are here to visit the Hub, and she will be only too happy to direct you to the right place.
