CoronaVirus Update

DON'T FLATTEN THE CURVE......BEND IT

As most of you are aware, AFL SE under advice from the AFL has suspended the start of the season until after June 1st. This is part of the broader community response to slow virus transmissions down and assist the health system to cope.

It is a huge disappointment to the club as a whole and the work that has gone into the season preparation at every level. We have felt collectively that the position of the club at every level has been tracking very positively which is in some degree a paradox with the rest of the community.

Most of you have seen my spiels to date. So some updates

Crib Point Community Support Group

Julie Saunders has driven via committee an initaitive for a Crib Point Community Support Group. This is an initaive between ourselves, the Crib Point RSL and Crib Point Cellars.

Initially this involves Julie preparing meals at the RSL asnd them being stored at the Cellars. The aim is to supply them to people in the community who may not be able to get out or need the support. For example, it could be local health workers.

Our initial distribution run will be this Wednesday and it will be to older community members on the recommendation of the RSL. A system for on going support and application fort this support is currently being developed.

What do we want from our membership?

We need people to vounteer to assist with distribtion of the meals Julie has prepared. Our first distribution will be this Wednesday at 2pm and we need some club volunteers to assist delivering meals to the front door of those on the list, picking up from the RSL or Cellars. If we can get at least four helpers we estimate it will take no longer than an hour. Just email myself on steve.e@cribpointfnc.com

We are hopeful to have some branding for this initiative completed by this weekend.

Introducing our Sports Chaplain - Angela Cutting

We are extremel lucky to have been appointed our own Sports Chaplain who will work with Dave Evans on all member welfare. Both of these fantastic people are here to provide you suppport and us to also provide them support by welcoming them into our community. Connection is a two way street.

We realise these are trying times so if you want to have a chat with someone outside your normal support group, please contact either Angela (0413 104 053) or Dave (0490 344 638) as a starting point.

POSITIVES

We will come back to;

A new oval surface

A new scorebox

New rooms at least in the construction phase

New audio visual system

A new sense or our club really moving forward and prospering

CLEANING UP

These two legends just cleared all the scrub, grass, weeds and trees out the front of the ground to make it look more presentable. Ronny is going to put some weed kill in over the next couple of days which should keep the weeds down but it looks fantastic - Thanks Ronny Gniel and David Shepherd. Great people like this is what makes our club
