Mathematics Update

STEM

This term STEM sessions have linked strongly to our Humanities focus of Geography. Students have explored mapping and navigation, natural land forms and the different uses of land. This has been further supported through a range of incursions and excursions.

Strong focus has been on further developing the students ability to create effective 'blueprints' to guide their work. A wide range of skills and concepts were taught including perspective, ratio, angle and annotation.

In Maths, students explored area, perimeter, weight, mass, length and volume through hands on activities designed to enhance the students knowledge of these concepts, before moving into activities to practice the skills of calculating and converting.

Students have reflected on their Numeracy goals for Term Three and conferenced with their classroom teachers to set new goals. Parents are encouraged to regularly discuss their child's individual learning goals at home.
