Principal's News

Dear Parents and Friends of St Joseph’s Wee Waa,

Welcome to spring! Not long now and the days will start to get a lot longer, summer sport will begin, and the clocks will go forward and the smell of BBQs will be in the air. However, before all of this can happen we will have three and a half weeks of action-packed learning at school.

Last week we were lucky to have Wandana Aboriginal Education and Events with us. They presented a program to all classes at St Joseph’s. Through this program, they discussed Indigenous culture, music, and art. Our indigenous students at school were leaders and helped provide direction while all staff, students, and visitors on the day contributed to our school mural. Please see our School News page for further information into what the painting represents to the school.

We were also fortunate to have our Book Fair last week. It was amazing to see all of our students and staff dressing up and participating in our costume parade. This year’s theme “Reading is my superpower” was an amazing concept as it opened up a lot of possibilities for costumes. I know that I enjoyed being the “Green Sheep” for the day!

Next week our Stage 3 students are travelling to Canberra for their excursion. This will be a fun time, filled with lots of learning opportunities and challenges for our students. Please keep the staff, students and parent helpers in your thoughts and prayers as we travel across the state.

Finally, a big thank you to all of the parents that filled in the annual survey of the school. I hope to use the data in the coming months to help shape policy and practice within the school.

Yours in Faith,

Alistair Stewart
