Middle School News

Well as the Term comes to an end, I reflect on all the activities inside and outside the classroom that our students have had the opportunity to experience. The students have shown excellence, creativity and respect in the classroom and we have seen many students stepping up and organising themselves and handing in their work on time. The students have had organised activities in relation to certain curriculum areas. They have also had the opportunity outside the classroom and have experienced activities such as Interschool Sports and the School Production.

Middle School Leaders

The students have been busy in the last few weeks and have been helping the SRC and Miss McMahon in organising the fun Run. They have stepped up at meetings and are being involved on the day.

Alpine School Students

The students will finish their final days this week up at Dinner Plain. I would like to say a very special Thank-you to Ms Helen James for making the trek up and visiting the students. We look forward to their Community Leadership Project that will take place in Term 4.

Sunday 9th of September 2018 (13 days until end of program)

Today was our 2nd last rest day, I had a lot of fun and just chilled mostly. We had 2 past students from the Gnurad campus named Tyler and Gabe. They're really cool people and I've had a lot of fun hanging out with them. Tyler and I have very similar music tastes, he really likes Muse and he can

play some songs on the bass. Gabe is really cool too. He can play a bit of guitar and they both have a really good sense of humor. They are really nice guys and they are really fun to hang out with.

It's beginning to kick in that I don’t have that much more time here, we have 13 days left and I'm nervous that we won't stay in contact after this. I'll miss everyone but I want to go home at the same time. Miss Guy told us we are at the stage to begin packing anything we won't be using, we leave NEXT WEEK.

Snippets from Classes or experience:

Today, our classes were Gallery Walk Pred Gallery

Classes or experience: Today, we got back from Expo 2. Expo 2 overall was fun, but it was challenging and quite tiring. On the first day, we arrived at Biathlon Hut. The trip to Biathlon Hut was around 3km, and wasn’t that challenging. We arrived there with quite a lot of time to spare. We had lunch around 12, and went for an afternoon ski at 1-2pm. The afternoon ski was probably more tiring than the trip to Biathlon Hut, but it was sunny so that made it easier. After dinner, around 9pm some of us were just lying on the snow looking up at the stars and were talking about them. It was quite a nice experience, but we couldn’t do this on the second day.

On the second day, we woke up at 6am to rain hitting our tent. We were warned about a lot of rain coming in, and were hoping to get to our next destination before the rain hit us, but it had already rained and it was very overcast. Because of this, we stayed at Biathlon Hut another night, as the terrain would be too difficult to traverse whilst it was raining. Majority of the day we just sat in the hut around the fire and talked, but we did go skiing for around 2 hours in the rain. We went through

a skier’s tunnel, and went to Dargo’s Lookout. We couldn’t see anything from there, because of all the trees. We then caught a bus back up to where we started, and back to Biathlon Hut in the rain. We couldn’t sleep very well because of how much rain there was.

Year 7 News

The students have had the opportunity to involve themselves in Interschool Sports. I had the opportunity to be with the students at Table Tennis. They played very well and improved across the day.

Year 8 News

The Year 8’s have been very lucky this last fortnight as they have had interschool sports and a fantastic Medieval day. By all accounts the students got a lot out of the day, learning about costumes, games and the type of activities that they took part in the Medieval era.

Year 9 News

The Year 9 students have had a busy fortnight. They have been involved in two Urban experience days and had the opportunity to view different parts of the City. They had the opportunity to listen to a speaker from The Big Issue. The students have also taken part in a Wellbeing Day. We had people from Motiv8, Melbourne Vixens, SECASA, Headspace and MAT life speaking with the students.

I wish all students a safe and restful holiday.

Regards
