Year 10 WWII History Performance

Last Wednesday the talented Brett Hunt entertained and educated our Year 10 boys about the historical significance of war with his one-man production, ‘WWII Fighting for it’. The play was written using Brett’s own family history with the experiences of his grandparents during WWII incorporated in the script, along with other primary source material. The play explored many themes and some that really stood out were; the role of women during WWII, hatred and fear of the Japanese, and the annihilation caused by the use of atomic weapons.

The performance finished with consideration of the nature of forgiveness and letting go of hatred. Brett gave the boys much to think about and broadened their perspective of how the war affected civilians in both Australia and Japan.
