We're looking forward to another colourful dress up Book Week in August!

Library News

Book Week is fast approaching.  Book Week is an annual celebration of Australian authors and books, sponsored by The Children’s Book Council of Australia.  This year, Book Week will be held in Week 5, from Monday 20 August to Friday 24 August.  The theme for this year is ‘Find your Treasure.’

In the Primary School the boys will be involved in a variety of activities, the details of which will be shared next term.  There will be a Book Week Parade as part of the celebrations this year.  The children are invited to dress as their favourite book characteror a reading theme-related character (Find your Treasure.)

Please note that we do not want the children to hire costumes but to give some thought to things they might have at home or could make that can be incorporated into a costume.  The holidays are a perfect time to spend some time planning and making.

In the Secondary School we would like to remind students that they must bring their Student ID cards to school every day and not just when they think they might need it. The Student ID is not just a means to speed up borrowing it is also the tool that allows students to print and is used as personal identification in a variety of situations from school functions to the purchase of movie tickets. Remembering to always carry a school ID card is a great lesson for adult life when you are expected to always produce a drivers licence as identification. If an ID card has been lost it can be replaced by paying the $10 fee at the Student Office and then ordered through library staff.

Don’t forget that over the holidays you can still access both eBooks and audiobooks through the library catalogue http://library.bps.sa.edu.au/oliver/libraryHome.do as winter is the perfect time to snuggle up with a good book and catch up on some Premier’s Reading Challenge reading.
