Mr Ali addresses an enthusiastic crowd of families ready to enjoy a night of the arts at the Primary Arts Night

From the Primary School

Last week was the Primary Arts Evening and what a fantastic showcase of the talent of the Primary boys and their teachers/tutors and it was attended by a huge and appreciative crowd. I must say it was great that so many of you were there to support your boys. There were so many highlights from the choirs and band to the individual performers. And how about our dance group! Ms Schwidder and Mrs McGinty and the dancers gave up their lunchtimes to ensure the polished and popular item was ready in a short space of time. Thanks to all the staff for organising and supporting this important evening and well done to the boys for their great behaviour as well as their commitment to the Arts.  Congratulations to our groovy comperes too who added colour and humour to the night. Please see the Musical Notes article later in this newsletter for some great photos from the night.

The following day saw the presentation of the very informative and enjoyable NAIDOC Assembly. The whole school were given a look at our Indigenous history through the important figures in our history along with our inspiring guest speakers. Our ELC children performed their own version of “Welcome to Country” (Vinnie from Year 6 gave us the more traditional version). The Year 2s performed the excellent story of how the birds got their colours, and they were outstanding. Thanks to Miss Kendall Schenk for her role in organising the Primary side of things.

The term has flown by so quickly and busily so I hope the children and parents get a chance to have a break over the following two weeks. Thank you for all your support this semester. Hopefully the boys will remember the 4 Rules of Holidays: (1) Say your prayers (2) Eat your veggies (3) Be good to your mum and dad and (4) Play outside as much as possible (electronic free days).

Enjoy the holidays!
